Leo is a writer, musician, and photographer. He’s a shameless nature lover who enjoys taking time to walk, play, think, listen, and dream in the beautiful outdoors. He loves exploring the national parks, mountains, rivers, and coastlines of America. The Boundary Waters Canoe Area of Northern Minnesota is his favorite place to visit in all the world.
Leo lives in the beautiful state of Iowa. He enjoys the relaxing pace of small-town life versus the hustle and bustle of the big city. He has taken many groups to the Boundary Waters for week-long adventures in the wilderness. He has also visited Chicago and other urban centers to learn about city life and the issues of poverty and homelessness.
Leo’s first book is entitled Northern Lights. The book came about when he started writing out the memories of his trips to the Boundary Waters. The stories eventually grew into a fictional account set in the North Woods. Other events from his past have found their way into the story as well.
Leo just recently completed his second novel, entitled Southern Cross, which is a sequel to his first book. The story takes you to Chicago, Southern California, and all the way to New Zealand. It answers a lot of questions left hanging from the Northern Lights story, but there might be more to come too!
Over the years, Leo has written several dramas, musicals, songs, and plays for youth camps. He enjoys playing guitar, mostly for his own enjoyment. He couldn’t help but write a collection of songs to go along with the Northern Lights story. The songs are a musical reflection of the events in the story as well as being inspired by the beauty of the Boundary Waters of Northern Minnesota.
